Raw Toddler Snacks

Possibly the easiest (and most fun) raw toddler snack: Almond and Date Pops

Know that feeling when you want to treat your toddler to healthy goodness, but whatever you try is flung back at you by your tiny human quick smart? Nothing ticks the box, because your toddler sees right through you.

The team at We Might Be Tiny HQ might just have come up with the winning solution. You’re looking at a raw toddler snack that delivers healthy goodness, is super easy to make (you can thank us later) and looks anything BUT boring. Our small people have given it the thumbs up!

Here’s the deal: All you need is a We Might Be Tiny Freeze and Bake Poddie, pop sticks and a handful of ingredients. And just like that you end up with a fun toddler snack that looks more like a sneaky cake pop than a treat full of raw goodness. And your toddler will never find out because it’s just too delicious.

These treats last for up to 14 days, but if you run out before that (let’s face it, you will), know that it’s a quick and easy affair to make more. Our Freeze and Bake Poddies are dishwasher-safe, which means you can outsource the mess and enjoy a sneaky Almond and Date Pop instead.

Makes 9 Freeze and Bake Poddies | Prep 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 300 g (3 cups) almonds
  • 200 g (1 ½ cup) fresh dates, pitted
  • 120 ml (½ cup) coconut oil
  • 10 g (3 tbsp) raw cacao powder
  • 200 g (2 bars) dark chocolate, melted

Method

Soak almonds in 500 ml (2 cups) of filtered water with one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar for a minimum of two hours/up to 6 hours. Then rinse thoroughly with fresh water. This will increase the digestibility of the nuts and remove any moulds and mycotoxins

Preheat the oven to 180 C.

Line a baking tray with parchment paper and roast nuts for 10-15 minutes until dry and crunchy. Remove and let cool.

Combine all ingredients in a high speed food processor until you have a  fine crumbly dough.

Press dough into poddies and place in the fridge for a couple of hours until hardened.

Melt chocolate and dip your animals until evenly covered. Place sticks into a prepared box or Styrofoam to allow the chocolate to harden before storing or serving.
