All you need for this healthy bread recipe that will keep your baby intrigued long enough so you can tick an overdue item off your to-do list are a few staple ingredients and a hint of fresh rosemary.

Want to add a fun touch to your baby’s baby-led weaning adventures?
Simply use our Australiana Stampies set to turn each bread bite into an Aussie animal encounter.

Each Stampies set includes a stainless steel cookie cutter to help you portion the bites perfectly, 1 wooden stamper and a selection of easily interchangeable silicone animal stamps so you can create your own Aussie zoo.

And once you’re done, simply pop the silicone animal stamps into your dishwasher so you can spend more time with your tiny human and less time taking care of the mess.

Makes 8 bread bites | Prep 90 minutes

Ingredients

  • ½ tbsp yeast
  • 125 ml (½ cup) warm water
  • ½ tbsp olive oil
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 270 g (2 ½ cups) light spelt flour
  • ½ tbsp fresh rosemary, roughly chopped

Method

In a large bowl, combine yeast with water, olive oil and salt, and stir well to proof.

After 5 minutes, add half of the flour and the rosemary, and mix well to combine.

Add remaining flour and mix well with your hands.

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured work surface and knead the dough for at least 5 minutes, adding additional flour as necessary to form a smooth and elastic dough. Dough should not be sticky.

Transfer dough to a lightly oiled bowl. Cover with a damp towel and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size. For best results leave for at least 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 180 C.

Divide the dough mixture into eight equal portions and roll into small flat circles about half a centimetre thick. Choose your favourite Stampie to add some Australiana magic to your dough then arrange each bread bite next to each other on a parchment paper-lined tray.

Place in oven and bake for 20 minutes or until slightly golden.

Allow to cool slightly before serving. Delicious served with a bit of butter.
