A healthy take on Hot Cross Buns: Our Hot Cross Poddies
Nowadays Hot Cross Buns come in countless flavour combinations that are impossible to keep track of. Every year there’s a new fancy addition to tempt us into buying yet another pack of these sugar-loaded seasonal delights.
We don’t really want to. But we just can’t resist.
Here’s our solution for you: Homemade We Might Be Tiny Hot Cross Poddies.
With no refined sugar in sight these iconic Easter treats are a tempting alternative that basically gives you permission to snack away without the guilt that usually follows. We’ve done a fair few test bakes here in the We Might Be Tiny kitchen and they hit the sweet spot with young and old.
We like to use our Freeze & Bake Poddie to turn these healthy Hot Cross Buns into mini versions of our super cute signature characters Bunny, Cat and Bear. The only problem you’ll have is getting your munchkin to settle on their favourite, because they’re all irresistible.
Did you know that our Poddies are oven and freezer safe from -40°C to 230°C? That makes them the ultimate kitchen companion for homemade snack creations your little one will love (no matter what healthy nuggets you hook them with).

Place dough in a large, greased bowl the cover and leave in a warm place to rise for an hour until doubled in size.
Transfer to a floured surface and divide into 9 portions. Place into poddies mould and cover with a clean tea towel. Allow to prove for an hour in a warm place.
Meanwhile Preheat oven to 180 C and make hot cross mix by sifting flour into a bowl, adding water, and mixing until a smooth paste forms.
When hot cross poddies are ready for the oven, pipe cross mixture to form crosses on the top.
Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until golden.
Remove from the oven and brush with maple syrup to glaze and leave to cool before serving.
